CODE OF CONDUCT

The Memphis Classic wants your experience to be safe, enjoyable and memorable. Every guest plays an important role in ensuring that the experience is enjoyable for all. We want you to have fun. We want you to be safe. We want you to leave happy and look forward to coming back!

While at the Memphis Classic – including while inside the Leftwich Tennis Center and any surrounding areas (including, without limitation, parking areas, entry gates, and adjacent outdoor areas), all guests are expected to comply with all applicable laws, regulations, orders, and policies, as well as instructions provided by the USTA, event staff, security personnel, and any other authorities responsible for ensuring safety, and with the following Guest Code of Conduct at all times.

DO:

  • Be respectful of others.

  • Show your ticket upon request and only sit in your designated seat, where applicable.

  • Arrive and remain fully dressed, including, but not limited to, wearing shirts and footwear at all times.

  • Consume alcoholic beverages in a responsible and lawful manner.

  • Follow instructions from event staff and all posted signage regarding event operations, emergency procedures, and movement around the seating area during play.

  • Report any safety incidents, accidents, or property damage to the nearest event staff. 

DO NOT:

  • Enter the premises with any items on the Prohibited Items List (available at memphisclassic.com/prohibited-items).

  • Enter upon any tennis court, access any restricted area (including player areas, press facilities, or any other area guests are prohibited from entering), or attempt to place anything or throw anything upon any tennis court or at any person.

  • Engage in behavior that is inconsiderate, disruptive, threatening, offensive, discriminatory, including, but not limited to, using foul, abusive, offensive, threatening, inappropriate or discriminatory language or gestures; fighting; throwing objects; impersonating an official; emitting whistles or other sounds that might confuse players; or any other behavior that creates a disruptive atmosphere or detrimental experience for event staff, officials, fellow guests, players, or their entourages.

  • Wear any clothing or accessories with indecent, inappropriate, or offensive messaging or imagery, or that obstructs the view of or otherwise creates a disruptive atmosphere or detrimental experience for players and their entourages, event staff, officials or fellow guests.

  • Damage or deface property, equipment, or grounds.

  • Climb over fences, barriers, walls, or other structures.

  • Stand on seats or seat backs, or sit or stand in walkways, aisles, ramps, or stairways.

  • Block or obstruct the view of other guests.

  • Use umbrellas in the open position during play.

  • Smoke, vape or use any electronic smoking device.

  • Use video streaming apps or video recording devices to record on-court action or activities, or use any means of communication to relay or transmit data or information for betting purposes, broadcast piracy purposes, or for any other unlicensed commercial activities (see also “Betting and Gambling Integrity” below).

  • Engage in Ambush Marketing (as defined in the “Ambush Marketing Prohibition” section below) or any unauthorized advertising, promotional, marketing or commercial activities (including, without limitation, stunts, the sale or distribution of products or other goods and services, pamphlets, handouts, materials, or other items, or display of signs, symbols, images, or messages).

  • Engage in any type of protests or political/cause-based advocacy activities (including, without limitation, stunts, distribution of pamphlets, handouts, materials, or other items or display of signs, symbols, images, or messages, obstruction of access to on-site areas, etc.).

  • Solicit donations or any other form of support (e.g., signatures for campaigns, information for mailing lists) for any purpose or cause.

  • Disrupt or attempt to disrupt the operation of services or systems, including, but not limited to, utilities, power supply, and technical services.

Betting and Gambling Integrity

The following betting-related conduct provision applies to all guests: Guests agree not to collect, record, transmit, publish, sell, or otherwise distribute any information, data, or recordings concerning match play, player statistics, ball tracking, shot data, or any other Memphis Classic and event-related information for the purpose of facilitating, enabling, or supporting any form of sports wagering, betting, gambling or prediction markets activity, whether legal or illegal. This prohibition applies to all forms of data capture, including, without limitation, the use of mobile devices, video recording equipment, and any automated or AI-assisted collection tools.

Ambush Marketing Prohibition

The Memphis Classic name, logos, trademarks, trade dress, images, and related intellectual property are the exclusive property of the Memphis Classic. No guest shall conduct, and shall not permit or enable any third party to conduct, any activity in or around the Facility that, in the sole discretion of the Memphis Classic, may directly or indirectly imply or create a commercial association between the guest or any third party (on the other hand), and the Memphis Classic or any official Memphis Classic sponsor or partner (on the other hand), without the authorization of the Memphis Classic (“Ambush Marketing”).

Ambush Marketing includes, without limitation:

  • Marketing, sales, product or sample distribution as well as any promotional or advertising activities of any kind, including wearing, possessing, holding, displaying, or distributing promotional, commercial, or branded items;

  • Holding an unauthorized event within or around the Facility, whether of a commercial nature, for campaigning purposes, or for any other purpose; and

  • Any other activity that exploits or trades on the Memphis Classic’s goodwill or commercial value without authorization.

Any items used in violation of this provision may be confiscated without compensation, and the guest may be denied entry to or ejected from the grounds without refund or other compensation for engaging in Ambush Marketing. The Memphis Classic reserves all legal rights and remedies with respect to Ambush Marketing.

Enforcement

Guests are responsible for their own conduct as well as the conduct of any minors in their care. Guests who do not adhere to the Memphis Classic or fail to comply with applicable law, will be subject to the following consequences, as determined by the Memphis Classic in its sole discretion:

  • Ejection from the Facility without refund;

  • Possible arrest and prosecution;

  • Seizure of offending items without return or compensation;

  • Prohibition from attending future events; and

  • Further action by the Memphis Classic, including legal recourse and cancellation of other Memphis Classic tickets held by the guest.

The Memphis Classic reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to prohibit any behavior or activity not expressly listed above that it determines to be inconsistent with the safety, order, or enjoyment of the Memphis Classic.
